OPENED14 DAYS AGO

Renowned chef David Burke brings a new wood-fired American restaurant to Nomad – Woodpecker by David Burke is now open.

Located on the border of Nomad and Koreatown, Woodpecker by David Burke introduces a different kind of American dining spot to the neighborhood, focusing on wood-roasted dishes alongside David Burke classics.

The Spot:

Following suit with the whole “wood” theme, Woodpecker by David Burke features nothing but wooden furnishings and a selection of quirky cuckoo clocks on the wall. Take a seat at the endlessy long bar, or better yet, head for the communal table in front of the kitchen to watch the chefs in action.

The Food:

With the focus on wood-roasted dishes, the kitchen is fitted with two large wood-burning ovens to make a variety of creative American dishes, varying from meats to fish to vegetables and pizza. Overseen by David Burke veteran Carmine Di Giovanni, highlights include wood-roasted lamb with tomato couscous; branzino over vegetable tapenade; and Vadouvan chicken with warm spinach and apricot salad. But remember this is a David Burke establishment, so you’ll also find his signature “bacon clothesline”; a lobster calzone ready for its Instagram debut, and a “Cricket-rita” pizza topped with baked crickets – we dare you.

The Drinks:

To go with your playful dishes, Woodpecker by David Burke offers a variety of wittily named cocktails. Think “Pigs Can Fly” with bacon infused Belvedere Vodka and the signature “Woodpecker”, featuring Breckenridge bourbon and peach schnapps. There’s also wine and beer, but none of that is interesting when there’s bacon infused Belvedere Vodka on the menu.
