Just Opened Getaways: The Siren Hotel Detroit

Whenever we write a piece for our lovely Just Opened readers – yes, that’s you – we like to imagine the person behind the screen. And while we don’t know you in person, we do know we have a few things in common: we both love big cities and we’re hungry for everything new. The Siren Hotel in Detroit ticks both those boxes – but it’s not just another hotel; that’s for certain.

Located inside Detroit’s iconic Wurlitzer Building – home to one of the largest music stores in the world, which was left empty for 36 years – The Siren Hotel has enough going on to keep you indoors for a few days. With lofted duplex suites taking up two floors and an even bigger penthouse with views over downtown Detroit, we’re not even sure you will leave your room.

That would be a shame though, because you wouldn’t want to miss out on Siren’s seven food and beverage venues, retail boutiques and a piano karaoke bar. Were you unable to get your hair cut for your weekend away? Don’t worry: Siren has a barber shop. Did you forget to buy your partner flowers? No worries there either.

James Beard Award nominee chef Garrett Lipar will open his intimate eight-seat, tasting-menu restaurant – Albena – in April, while chef Kate Williams and partner Matt Wang are behind Siren’s cocktail lounge, Candy Bar, and an all-day diner and bakery, called Karl’s. And of course, there will be restaurants and bars on the rooftop, arriving just in time for summer. Our booking fingers are tingling already…
