Vida Verde

OPENED70 DAYS AGO

There’s a brand new Mexican inspired cocktail bar and restaurant shaking things up in Midtown now – Vida Verde. The new spot is sure to be a hit among the after-work crowd with the team that brought you Tanner Smith’s at the helm of this new spot too.

The Spot:

The large, 4,000-square-foot, bi-level space sits on West 55th Street and has not one, but two bars as well as a dining space for up to 104 diners. The decor takes inspiration from various markets and streetscapes throughout Mexico and features a colorful and clectic mix of finishes and patterns and textures. The restaurant also features hand-painted graffiti by graffiti artist Victor Marka – known for incorporating Mexican Folklore and Hip Hop culture into his work.

The Food:

The menu is inspired by Chef, Hugo Orozco’s hometown of Mazatlan, Mexico. Expect dishes that highlight fresh, authentic Mexican flavors and ingredients like loaded guacamole (with grilled shrimp, pork rind, crudité, potato chips and shishito peppers), seafood ceviche (with shrimp, fish squid, scallops, avocado, Pico de Gallo and tostadas) and a watermelon salad. Tacos are made with house-made masa tortillas and include fillings like squid & corn, lamb barbcoa and beef tongue. Customers can also make use of test-tube droppers of different salsas to add their preferred level of heat to their food too.

The Drinks:

The cocktail menu also focuses on incorporating fresh Mexican ingredients and includes signature cocktails like the ‘Vida Verde’ (with snap pea infused mezcal, yellow chartreuse, lemon, sour orange and tarragon), ‘Fake News’ (with Ketel One, Pisco Gobernador, tequila, fennel and grapefruit bitters) and ‘Good Neighbor Policy’ (with Plantation 3 Star Rum, J.M. Rhum, strawberry, rhubarb, lime and sorrel). There are also a range of beers and wines.

In A Nutshell:

It’s difficult to think of a better solution for after-work drinks than delicious Mexican for and even more delicious cocktails so don’t bother trying. Just go to Vida Verde.
