Upstate Getaway: The Surf Lodge
In our series of Upstate Getaways, we’re covering the best hotels with new things to do and upcoming events, inspiring your next weekend trip away from the hustle and bustle of New York City. This week, we’ve got you covered with Montauk’s hottest summer destination, The Surf Lodge.
Beach-inspired bedrooms, each with their very own deck, aren’t the only draw to this trendy hotel. With live concerts every weekend, spectacular sunsets over Ford Pond and DJs mixing the tunes all night, it’s easy to see why The Surf Lodge has become a popular weekend getaway in the summer. And now, the trendy hotel brings New York’s dining standard to the restaurant, welcoming culinary director Ron Rosselli – of Café Boulud, Locanda Verde and The Standard Grill – and chef de cuisine Angela Bazan – of The Standard Hotel – on board.
The menu combines Mediterranean cuisine with Montauk’s seafood and produce, offering a selection of light and healthy dishes. For dinner, dishes such as burrata and market salads complement the larger mains, featuring trumpet pasta with green beans, roasted cauliflower with cashew tahini, and lemon roasted chicken. If you’re looking for your fix of seafood, take your pick of crab linguini or grilled seabass, alongside a full raw bar menu with all the classics.
Brunch brings the healthy fuel after your morning yoga session (yes, The Surf Lodge offers that too), including options such as a grain bowl with kale and chickpeas, egg white frittata, and honey yogurt with granola. But don’t worry, your hangover can be cured too: The Lodge Burger with provolone will do just the trick.
