Tim Ho Wan Hell’s Kitchen

OPENED20 DAYS AGO

Renowned Hong Kong-based dim sum restaurant Tim Ho Wan opens a second location in Hell’s Kitchen.

Tim Wo Han first introduced the US to its celebrated dim sum in 2016, opening up a restaurant in New York’s East Village. After testing our patience with ridiculously long lines (three-hour waits are crazier than the cronut line), another Tim Wo Han location was a necessary next step.

The Spot:

Knowing this is the world’s most affordable Michelin-starred restaurant, we’re expecting the lines to be just as long – especially in this tourist-packed area in the city. But it promises to be worth the wait. The dynamic dim sum duo Mak Kwai Pui and Leung Fai Keung personally train each chef, bringing you time-honored recipes of homemade dim sum.

The Food:

Many of the Hong Kong hits have made the move to Hell’s Kitchen, including BBQ pork buns, steamed shrimp dumplings and pan-fried turnip cakes. Rice comes in various forms, wrapped in a vermicelli roll with BBQ pork, or steamed with black bean ribs. We suggest ordering as much as humanly possible, because it might be a while before you’re back (literally).

The Drinks:

Aiming to pair perfectly with your dim sum, there’s a carefully selected tea program with options such as Oolong Tea and Lychee Black Tea. But unlike other traditional dim sum restaurants, Tim Ho Wan offers a selection of wine and beer too.

In a Nutshell:

Hell’s Kitchen isn’t typically an area you would run to for dinner, but for Tim Ho Wan, you should definitely make an exception.
