The Woodstock

OPENED257 DAYS AGO

A new cocktail and pizza bar opens in Meatpacking District.

Brought to you by James Morrissey (owner of Black Rose Hospitality, operating the VNYL and The Late Late) with partner David Sitt (of Thor Equities), the concept is inspired by European fast-casual models. Woodstock offers quick service and an affordable menu, without sacrificing quality.

The Spot:

Transporting you to the original Woodstock Festival in 1969, the colorful space boasts boho-chic elements. Think Salvador Dali pieces adorning the walls, a purple custom-felted pool table in the center, and starburst clocks, creating a quirky and welcoming atmosphere. You can secure a seat at the long communal tables, plump down on one of the leather couches or take a peak at the open kitchen…

The Food:

…because that’s where the magic happens. Helmed by Executive Chef Nino Coniglio – owner of Williamsburg Pizza – the menu revolves around Neapolitan thin-crust pizzas. Coniglio offers both signature pies and a selection of rotating specialty pies – all named after the influential woman from the Woodstock era. Highlights include the Jackie, a spicy pizza topped with pepperoncini peppers and hot honey, and the Twiggy, featuring semi-dried cherry tomatoes, artichoke, and meatless fig salami.

The Drinks:

Beverage Director D’Arel Miller (formerly of Soho House Group) is in charge of the cocktails, served creatively in lightbulbs and tiki fish bowls. Signature cocktails include Lucy in the Sky (Bacardi, strawberry lime and agave) or the Yellow Submarine (Tanqueray, Martini & Rossi Dry Vermouth, Suze and peach bitters). During the day, Woodstock operates as a café, serving La Colombe coffee.

The Damage:

Aiming to be accessible for everyone, all pizzas cost $15, while cocktails are $10.

In a Nutshell:

Offering an affordable menu in a cozy and inviting space, Woodstock is already standing out from other bars and restaurants in Meatpacking District. Located just steps away from the Highline, it will be interesting to see whether the bar will become a favorite for locals, and not just tourists.
