The Fat Radish

OPENED951 DAYS AGO

You may well have heard of The Fat Radish and its many celebrity clientele that walk through its doors. Now, coming into their 7th year on Orchard Street, the popular Lower East Side haunt has gone back to their roots and has created a new lunch concept for the community. Whilst this part of town isn’t exactly short of cafes and workspaces to fill with laptops like Two Hands or The Butcher’s Daughter but it’s rare that a spot, so well known for its high turnover of tables and evening crowd opens up to the masses during the day, encouraging patrons to stay as long as they like.

The spot…

The new concept is brought to life by the return of executive chef Nicholas Wilber, alongside head chef Jared Dowling and The Fat Radish team. They are digging further into their farm-to-table ethos and offering a brand new curated menu, with a focus to deliver the highest quality food, that has the lowest impact on the environment, at the most reasonable price point possible. There’s a monthly guest chef on the last Friday of each month, where they will bring a special chef from around the world, for a complete menu takeover – so keep an eye out for that.

The food…

Dishes have been devised with vegetables taking centre stage. Look out for items like a whole roasted butternut squash with shaved brussels sprouts & pickled raisins and sage vinaigrette, a roasted cauliflower sandwich with spiced squash & chicory, and a spin on NY’s favorite falafel wrap with beet hummus & tabouleh. For the meat-eaters, fear not as there are still some delectably naughty dishes on the menu, like the Radish cheeseburger and a traditional Montauk pollock fish & chips with duck fat chips.

The damage…

All items are capped at $10 so you can really tuck in.

In their words…

“Its been a pleasure to be a part of the LES for so many years. And we really want The Fat Radish to be a place where the neighborhood can feel at home” -Phil Winser, owner and resident.

In our words…

Come here for lunch, coffee and get your work done knowing you can stay as long as you like. Stay long enough for it to turn into dinner service and see the night away in style.
