Samesa

OPENED1032 DAYS AGO

Samesa, a popular pop-up from Montauk, has now launched its first standalone location in Williamsburg.

The Middle Eastern concept has previously operated as a pop-up at hip Brooklyn spots like Berg’n and Threes Brewing and even Ruschmeyers in Montauk but now, Samesa joins other top class dining offerings in Williamsburg with its very own spot to call home.

Based on their love of hole-in-the-wall falafel joints, halal trucks and Middle Eastern restaurants found across the states, brothers and owners, Max and Eli Sussman created a menu from scratch that serves up their favorite versions of the cuisine’s classic dishes. Having grown up in a part of Michigan that has a large population of immigrants from the Middle East, the brothers grew up with the cuisine playing as much of a role as a slice of pizza or bagel does to New Yorkers. Whilst NYC does have its fair share of shawarma spots and Halal carts, the brothers felt they too had something to offer.

Samesa offers specialities like roasted beet dip, lentil pistachio spread and zucchini fritters as well as a speciality chicken shawarma that’s made with organic chicken thighs marinated in buttermilk, labneh and a blend of spices for 48 hours and then slowly spit roasted. The pitas served are all home made and baked fresh every day.

Located on Lorimer Street, Samesa‘s space offers a casual environment to diners looking to either drop in and peruse their market area or stay for longer and take a seat in their dining area. The market offers candy like licorice, Swedish fish and trail mix as well as sauces and condiments. The dining area offers up heartier options to stay like chicken shawarma, braised lamb and fish kofta served as a sandwich or plate. There is also a rotating selection of home made sweets like tahini cocoa pudding and olive oil date cake.
