Rosemary’s Pizza

OPENED1032 DAYS AGO

Rosemary’s Pizza opens its doors in the West Village.

If you haven’t already guessed, Rosemary’s Pizza is a restaurant by the same owner of West Village charmer Rosemary’s, Carlos Suarez (who also runs Bobo and Claudette). New York is seeing a rise (pun unintended) of pizza restaurants at the moment, including SIMÒ Pizza, Bocce USQ and Alla Pala Pizza & Enotoca – not that we’re complaining.

The Spot:

Just like its sister restaurant, Rosemary’s Pizza is a large 60-seat restaurant with a homey yet lively atmosphere, complete with windows that open onto the street and a forthcoming sidewalk café. Taking inspiration from the Italian countryside, the space features exposed brick and rustic wooden beams, and the open kitchen is likely to make you feel hungrier by the minute.

The Food:

As you’ve probably guessed, the focus of chef Moises menu is pizzas, Neapolitan-inspired pizzas, fired in a wood-burning oven for an untraditional crisp, golden-brown crust. Besides the classics, the menu offers pizzas topped with Brussels sprouts and almonds; oyster mushrooms, fontina and apple; and broccoli rabe – all sourced from Rosemary’s Farm in the Hudson Valley or local producers. Rosemary Pizza also serves a variety of salads (think caprese and radicchio), while neighborhood bakery Mah ze Dahr brings in the desserts.

The Drinks:

Curated by beverage director Rufio Lerma, Rosemary’s Pizza serves wines from New York State and Italy, as well as Italian-inspired cocktails. Think “Negroni Alto” with orange bitters; “Lady Roey” with gin, lemon and rosemary; and a guacca-based Martini.

The Damage:

Pizzas vary between $14 and $20; salads cost around $15 and cocktails are $15.

In a Nutshell:

As Rosemary’s has become a favorite for both dinner and drinks in the village, Rosemary’s Pizza is likely to follow in her sister’s footsteps.
