Ovenly

OPENED107 DAYS AGO

Award-winning bakery Ovenly is opening a new location in Williamsburg.

It’s no secret that Brooklyn is the new Manhattan, with plenty of great brunch spots in Williamsburg, and now the arrival of Ovenly in the ever-expanding neighborhood. With three bakeries in Brooklyn (and one inside Urbanspace Vanderbilt Market) and plans for an Ovenly test-kitchen studio this Summer, Ovenly definitely has big ambitions.

The Spot:

The ambitions of the founders Erin Patinkin and Agatha Kulaga stretch further than simply opening new cozy bakeries and selling baked goods. Not only does the duo employ people who have been denied economic opportunities, but they are serious about reducing their impact on the environment. With community being an important part of the bakery, the new Ovenly location will give away the most popular items every Thursday (4.30pm–6.30pm) throughout the opening month. Yes, they are giving away a slice of the famous Brooklyn Blackout Cake (black chocolate stout cake with salted, dark chocolate pudding buttercream). Try not to drool.

The Food:

Similar to its sister locations, Ovenly in Williamsburg serves a selection of baked goods and pastries – both savory and sweet. Expect all the Ovenly staples, including salted chocolate chip cookies, savory-sweet currant-rosemary scones, and a sticky donut cake with butterscotch glaze.

The Drinks:

Drinks include coffee, tea and lemonade.

The Damage:

Cookies and scones cost around $3–$4, while a slice of cake costs $7.

In a Nutshell:

Given the success of the previous Ovenly locations and the plans for the future, we’re excited to see how the bakery will evolve. In the meantime, we’ll be indulging on cheddar mustard scones and croissant sandwiches with house-made hazelnut spread.
