Nai Tapas Bar

OPENED31 DAYS AGO

Nai Tapas Bar is back in New York’s East Village.

After many years in a tiny spot on First Avenue, Nai Tapas Bar embarks on a new chapter with a bigger location on Second Avenue.

Nai Tapas Bar - Barriga De Cerdo

The Spot:

Instead of squeezing yourself into a cramped space and elbowing your neighbors all night, you can actually sit back and enjoy your dinner. Spread across two floors, there’s plenty of space for East Village locals and more (read: Flamenco dancers on Thursdays and Saturdays).

Nai Tapas Bar - Crujiente De Rabo Y Trucha

The Food:

Chef Ruben Rodriguez grew up in his mother’s restaurant in Spain, learning traditional tapas recipes from the Galicia region. At Nai Tapas Bar, he reimagines those dishes with modern techniques and unexpected combinations. Think oxtail toast with smoked trout and black ink aioli; mustard-marinated chicken thighs with seaweed and champagne-pickled shallots; and Muchos Huevos (a different take on Madrid’s fried egg and potato dish, made with salmon and flying fish roe). But the menu also includes traditional tapas, like patatas bravas or hearty ham croquettes.

Nai Tapas Bar - Salmorejo Canario

The Drinks:

Aiming to be the perfect partner to your tapas, sommelier Daniel Proveda (2009 Best Sommelier of Madrid) brings you a carefully chosen wine list that is 100% Spanish, alongside beer and eight flavors of Sangria.

The Damage:

Tapas dishes range from $7 to $20, but you can also experience a special tasting menu at $105 (including wine pairings).

Nai Tapas Bar - Pollo a La Brasa

In a Nutshell:

The bigger space isn’t the only upgrade. Nai Tapas Bar introduces a brand new brunch and lunch menu, which is very important news when you hear cinnamon French toast comes with banana whipped cream.
