Mykonos Blue

OPENED926 DAYS AGO

We have some great Greek spots in the fair city of New York, Slouvaki, the newly opened Ousia and Avra Madison to name a few but now, there is a new recruit on the scene, Mykonos Blue. Housed inside the newly opened Hotel Hayden, Mykonos Blue offers traditional Greek food in a chic setting with awesome views of the city.

The Spot:

Open all day, serving breakfast through dinner, their mission is to transport their diners to the islands of Greece via their tastebuds through cooking traditional Greek food with fresh, all natural and bold flavors and ingredients. Food is paired with the islands best loved wines and spirits.

The Food:

Lunch offers a plethora of traditional Greek dishes (most of which you probably won’t be able to pronounce so get ready for a lot of finger pointing). Start off with small plates like the Avgolemono – an organic egg-lemon soup with chicken stock and orzo, the Garides Sharas – grilled shrimp with olive oil and herbs or Dolmades.

In addition to a range of hearty salads and sides, there are specialities that also come at dinner time like Seafood Orzo (essentially a Greek version of Paella) and a Lavraki (a whole white fish with moist tender flakes). With so many dishes on offer of both small and extra large portions, this is definitely a restaurant best attended by those who enjoy sharing their food. Order lots of everything and share it – you won’t be disappointed.

The Drinks:

Of course there are traditional Greek wines and spirits to pair with your meal but there are also great cocktails on offer too. Opt for a cucumber martini, an ouzo mojito and you can even head up to their rooftop where you can take in views of the city from their leafy oasis upstairs.

The Damage:

Small dishes range from $7 up to $18 for the most expensive. Speciality and larger dishes range from $21 to $32.

In a nutshell:

With its clean white washed and fresh feel, Mykonos Blue really will have you feeling you’re at least outside of the cold chill of New York and a little closer to the warmth of the Mediterranean. The food will not disappoint and you can be sure to enjoy their awesome rooftop before or after dinner (we say both).
