Miss Ada

OPENED859 DAYS AGO

Fort Greene has welcomed a new modern Mediterranean restaurant called Miss Ada. The chef/owner behind the new spot is Tomer Blechman who’s previous work has included stints at well-regarded kitchens including Lupa, Bar Bolonat, Gramercy Tavern and Cookshop. The name originates from the Hebrew word for restaurant and is pronounced “misada”.

The Spot:

The space is perfect for dates with its cozy dining room with pine wood banquettes to get comfortable in and there’s a large communal table that seats 12 in front of an old fireplace. The backyard offers a welcome escape from the hectic streets, complete with potted plants and herbs and there’s a smoker out there too that will get fired up later this summer.

The Food:

The menu is still being finalised (they will be adding more dishes over the next few days) but the ‘modern Mediterranean’ theme focuses on a fresh and inventive take on traditional Israeli cooking together with touches from the chef’s family origins (Latvia). Dishes like herring crostini and housemade lane with za’atar start off the menu, followed by larger dishes like a New York twist on the traditional Masabaha dish – with warm chickpeas, tahini, olive oil and charred ramps and the Meshuleshet – a triple hummus with chickpeas, favas and dry-aged beef.

The Drinks:

There’s a whole host of local beers and natural wines as well as a range of craft cocktails including one special that was inspired by Tomer’s Russian family – a shot of vodka with pickled mushroom.

In A Nutshell:

If you’re looking for a fresh and new take on Mediterranean food then Miss Ada is your spot.
