Lola’s Lumpia

OPENED293 DAYS AGO

Brooklyn’s food hall DeKalb Market Hall welcomes its first pop-up vendor – Lola’s Lumpia is now open for the month of June.

Founded by first-generation Filipino American twins and their partners, the pop-up focuses all its efforts one one particular dish: “Lola’s” Lumpia.

The Spot:

Lola’s Lumpia honors their grandmother’s recipe – Lola means “grandmother” in Tagalog, the most-spoken dialect in the Philippines next to English – while adding a modern twist with unique sauces. Although Lola’s Lumpia temporarily resides in DeKalb Market Hall, the founders aim to find a permanent home for the Filipino snack.

The Food:

Focusing solely on the Filipino version of a spring roll, the menu offers three types of lumpias, each paired with a different sauce. The menu includes chicken lumpias with calamansi aioli; pork lumpias with sweet chili sauce and mushroom lumpias with adobo sauce. If you’re experiencing FOMOF (fear of missing out on food – yes, I just made that up), Lola’s Combo has you covered with two of each.

The Drinks:

You’re here for the lumpias.

The Damage:

Each variety costs $6, which gives you four lumpias. Lola’s Combo costs $8.

In a Nutshell:

Pop-ups with small menus are often an instant hit – we can’t work out if it’s because of the urge to visit before it’s too late or whether they just do one dish very well. Either way, make sure to visit Lola’s Lumpia before it’s gone.
