Legacy Records

OPENED333 DAYS AGO

Legacy Records is a new café and restaurant in Hudson Yards.

It’s the new venture from Delicious Hospitality – the team behind Charlie Bird and Pasquale Jones – and serves Mediterranean cuisine inside Henry Hall.

The Spot:

While Legacy Records sits inside a brand new residential building, the restaurant’s name is a nod to the past, playing homage to the neighborhood that was once ripe with recording tradition. The team’s newest project is more than just a restaurant, featuring a walk-up café for breakfast (open now), a wine and cocktail bar, and two private dining rooms with a test kitchen. Designed by Ken Fulk, each space carries its own distinctive style and atmosphere. Floor-to-ceiling windows make the restaurant bright and airy, while the bar is a more intimate space, decorated with cozy velvet banquettes.

The Food:

The café was born out of a love of coffee shared by Chef Ryan Hardy and Delicious Hospitality’s Grant Reynolds and Robert Bohr, and provides coffees, and light breakfast and lunch daily, along with breads and sweet treats from the restaurant’s bakery. At night, it converts  into a bar where guests can enjoy wine, cocktails and light bites. We love a multi-use space.

As with any Delicious Hospitality operation, Legacy Records’ restaurant serves mostly Italian food. Ryan Hardy’s Mediterranean-influenced menu balances a selection of seafood, small plates, pastas and roasted dishes, including crispy sunchokes, chestnut tagliatelle with duck ragu, and Branzino with Amalfi lemon.

The Drinks:

Arvid Rosengren – named best sommelier in the world in 2016 – leads the wine program, while Please Don’t Tell mixologist Jeff Bell is in charge of the cocktails. He was recently awarded the title ‘Best Bartender in America’, so we’ve got pretty high hopes. Expect a list of 250 wines (mostly Italian and French), and a cocktail list that is both classic and creative.

The Damage:

Small plates cost around $16–24, and mains are $21–45.

In a Nutshell:

Given the success of downtown spots Charlie Bird and Pasquale Jones, we’re excited that the team have branched uptown. With pretty much everything under one roof – breakfast, bar and dinner – there’s enough reason to hang here all day. Don’t judge us.
