La Pecora Bianca

OPENED399 DAYS AGO

La Pecora Bianca, an Italian spot in NoMad, now has a second home in Midtown, on Second Avenue and 50th Street. A larger space than it’s original location, La Pecora Bianca features Italian cuisine from Chef Cruz Goler.

The Spot:

La Pecora Bianca was designed by Balthazar architect Richard Lewis, and designer Chiara deRege. White and pale oak accents are to be expected, like the oak chevron floors, accented with brass pieces, and natural light from windows overlooking Second Avenue. The dining room features mid-century Italian lighting with an regal Stilnovo chandelier, hanging over blue leather booths and a library wall with vintage Italian pieces. The front of the restaurant, which houses the café and bar, has blue and green tiled floors, marble and brass tables, and high-top seating.

The Food:

Chef Cruz Goler’s menu is seasonal with a focus on locality. The menu will be focused on the house-made pastas, like Gramigna with sausage and broccolini, and tagliatelle with beef and pork bolognese. Guests can start with small appetizers, called spuntini, the crispy prosciutto bomboloni or burrata with roasted apples and salsa verde. The main star of the show, however, is dessert, where a table can opt to partake in a multi-layered tiramisu with amaro. In time, the restaurant will open each day with a go-to café window, serving morning pastries, Panini, salads, gelato, and espresso drinks.

The Drinks:

The food is complemented by a comprehensive wine list, with wines by the bottle and by the glass, and La Pecora Bianca’s private Tuscan label, La Pecora Rosa. Negroni and spritzers are available and will change seasonally.

In a nutshell:

La Pecora Bianca’s second location will keep up the traditional Italian flavors and quality as its first location, except in a bigger space. The expansive wine list and the house wine pair beautifully with Chef Goler’s seasonal menu, and the ambience welcomes each and every guest. Keep an eye out for the takeout window, coming soon!
