Kay’s Boutique Café

OPENED515 DAYS AGO

Brunch destination Kay’s Boutique Café is popping up in Nolita until June 30th.

Originally from Bangkok, the new NY pop-up is joining other great NYC brunch spots and serves a pared-down menu focused on chef and owner Pavitra Kobkulsuwan’s favorite dish: French toast.

The Spot:

The pop-up location is small but perfectly formed, with white-tiled walls and pretty marble tables, brightened up by greenery and a neon sign featuring the handwriting-style logo. It’s basically an Instagram dream…

The Food:

…and so is the food. The French toast here is bright and colorful, designed to appeal to your eyes as well as your tastebuds. It comes in matcha, hot chocolate and salted caramel flavors, but you’re really there for The Ultimate: brûlée custardy vanilla French toast layered with almond cream and banana and topped with almond and Bacon crumbles.

Best of all, they come in miniature form, so you can pop in for a quick bite on your way to work, or settle in for the morning and work your way through one in every flavor. You don’t even need a knife and fork.

The Drink:

Kay’s will serve a variety of hot and iced coffees, as well as their signature milkshake-style drinks, which come in three flavors: The BOMB (black truffle, Oreo, milk pudding, Belgian chocolate), Muddy Berry (raspberry and chocolate) and The Hulk (matcha and chocolate).

The Damage:

French toast is $6.50–7.50 depending on the flavor, coffees are $3–5.75 and the specialty drinks are $5.50–5.75.

In a Nutshell:

We’re suckers for a good brunch dish here at Just Opened, and these sweet bite-sized French toasts look like a great treat for a busy morning. Plus, you can’t hate a drink named after The Hulk, can you?
