JAX B-B-Q

OPENED1101 DAYS AGO

JAX B-B-Q, from pitmaster Nick Accardi of Tavola and The Viceroy, is bringing a new concept to Hell’s Kitchen – wood pit barbecue.

Accardi will serve craft black Angus burgers, frozen margaritas, and house-made BBQ sauce (and you can even buy a bottle to take home).

The Spot:

JAX B-B-Q takes you straight out of New York City and plants you in the deep South. Designed with a rockabilly flair, the space features exposed brick walls, antique gas station signs, the original barstools from a 1930s Woolworth, and black leather banquettes.

The Food:

The menu is pretty straightforward – barbecue and other Southern favorites! Starters include alligator tail fritters, crawfish hush puppies, and Texas link sausage, from New York’s own Esposito Meat Market.

The meats are smoked with a combination of white oak, cherry and birch woods, giving them unique and well-developed flavors. Dishes include Memphis-style baby back ribs – rubbed with an 18-ingredient spice mix and smoked for eight hours – Carolina pulled pork – smoked for 12 hours – and then a meat of the day option. Each entrée comes with homemade coleslaw and sides, including burnt end baked beans, Vermont Cheddar mac & cheese, and stewed okra. Guests can also opt for dishes that have not been smoked, such as fried catfish and buttermilk fried chicken.

Burgers are a big deal here, too – each one is hand-pressed with Black Angus beef, and served on an Orwasher’s brioche bun. The most notable options include the JAX Burger, with truffle ketchup and garlic aioli, and the BBQ Slab Bacon Burger with slab bacon, Vermont cheddar, and of course, the house BBQ sauce. They also offer a turkey burger, lamb burger, and the adorably named ‘I Can’t Believe It’s Not Meat’ veggie burger.

Desserts include key lime pie, Mississippi mud pie, chocolate pecan pie, and banana pudding.

The Drinks:

The bar serves frozen margaritas made with real fruit and a selection of craft beers, and you can also choose from an extensive tequila list.

In a Nutshell:

JAX B-B-Q is serving up down home flavors in Hell’s Kitchen. And they’re doing it the authentic way too! With Nick Accardi’s considerable barbecue pedigree, we are pretty excited.
