Glaze Midtown

OPENED11 DAYS AGO

Glaze launches a new flagship location in Midtown.

Brought to you by Paul Krug (who was also the co-CEO and founder of Bluestone Lane), Glaze serves Japanese-influenced fare with a focus on modernized teriyaki – just like the teriyaki shops in his hometown of Seattle. Although Midtown is dotted with unhealthy fast-casual eateries, the city is seeing a rise of more elevated options like Glaze, alongside Inday and Nolita’s hottest newcomer Dez.

The Spot:

Located across the street from the original flagship store, the new space is Glaze’s largest outpost yet, complete with a DIY-sauce bar and brand new menu items. Designed by Williamsburg’s trendy coffee spot Sweatshop, Glaze’s flagship location boasts a clean and modern design with light oak furnishings and plenty of natural light. With living greenery included throughout the space, Glaze feels more like an all-day café on the West Coast than a teriyaki shop in Midtown.

The Food:

Glaze allows you to customize your meal, offering proteins like chicken breast, salmon and a new pulled pork teriyaki (made with fresh ginger and pineapple); various dressings and sauces (from classic to extra spicy teriyaki), as well as the option to swap white or brown rice with a salad if you prefer. Making sure you leave full and satisfied, side dishes include crispy gyoza dumplings, spicy-yaki chicken wings and a cold soba noodle salad.

The Drinks:

Glaze serves classic fast-casual drinks such as soda and coconut water.

The Damage:

Teriyaki and salads cost around $8-$12; side dishes are $4-$6.

In a Nutshell:

Glaze is no stranger to the city, operating stores in Williamsburg, Midtown and Union Square. Given the success of the modern Japanese eatery in New York (and beyond), it’s only fitting founder Krug opened a more spacious flagship store.
