Fava Bistro
Mediterranean restaurant Fava Bistro has opened in the West Village.
While it’s named after the Italian fava bean, Fava Bistro feels a lot like Greece – in both the menu and design.
The Spot:
A bright, two-storied building with white washed walls and blue accents, Fava Bistro transports you straight out of the West Village to a dreamy Greek destination. The space seems suitable for pretty much any occasion, from cocktails at the bar to dinner with friends to date night (head upstairs for a more intimate setting).
The Food:
The menu leans heavily towards Greek cuisine, so expect all the classics such as saganaki (pan-seared halloumi cheese drizzled in honey), calamari (served with lemon aioli), and a Greek salad with feta cheese and olives. Entrées are divided into categories of the sea and land, balancing light dishes such as scallops and branzino with a hearty “smash” burger or chargrilled hanger steak.
The Drinks:
Fava Bistro puts a Mediterranean twist on quintessential drinks, including a Baklava Old Fashioned (made with honey liqueur and walnut bitters), Med Martini (expect olive oil-infused vodka and lemon), and a fig-infused Manhattan (named fittingly, the Perfectly Figgy Manhattan).
The Damage:
Dishes range between $12 and $27; cocktails are priced at $15.
In a Nutshell:
Serving fresh, bright fare in a light-filled space, consider Fava Bistro your new summer escape during the city’s cold winter days.
