Fairfax

OPENED17 DAYS AGO

Fairfax is the newest West Village restaurant to join the 2017 trend of all-day dining.  The restaurant itself is trendy, and has a variety of Mediterranean-inspired options, and wine pairing deals.  From 8am until 11:30am during the week and until 3pm on weekends, the restaurant serves breakfast before turning over to become a casual wine bar.

The Spot:

Fairfax is taking over Italian restaurant Perla’s formal spot, at the sunny corner of West 4th and West 10th Streets.  It’s incredibly relaxed and cozy: large cacti, tall plants with sweeping leaves, cushy mismatched couches and chairs, and bright yellow wall-dividing bookshelves make the space feel more like a living room than a restaurant.  The welcoming décor sets the tone of the all-day wine bar/café.

The Food:

Fairfax holds breakfast Monday through Friday from 8am to 11:30 am, with Lunch + Dinner to follow until close.  Brunch is served on the weekends until 3pm.  Fairfax’s menu, from Chef Jack Harris, is Mediterranean inspired with dishes on the smaller sides, as they typically are in wine bars.  Breakfast includes options like a Petit Omelette with charred patty pan squash and chives, Ronnybrook Yogurt with cherries, chia, pistachios, and honey, Avocado Toast with baba ganoush, radish, and za’atar, and Half Watermelon, with Aleppo pepper, lime, and cilantro.  Breakfast can be enjoyed both sit down or takeaway.  Lunch + Dinner at Fairfax begins with snacks such as Salt & Vinegar Almonds and Boquerones, or a Cheese Plate with honeycomb and apricots.  Guests can then choose from delicious small plates like White Bean Hummus with succotash and flatbread, Diver Scallop with watermelon, chili, and thai basil, or Spaghetti with sungold tomatoes, tarragon, and mozzarella.  Guests can also choose a Plate + Glass of Wine pairing option.

The Damage:

Breakfast at Fairfax ranges from $8 for Half Watermelon and House Granola, up to $12 for Gravlax and Ronnybrook Yogurt.  Lunch + Dinner ranges from $9 for a Corn Cake, up to $22 for Brook Trout.  The Plate + Glass of Wine Pairing option for $20.

In a nutshell:

Everyone needs time to unwind with a glass of wine and small plates of Mediterranean food, in a comfortable and homey setting.  Fairfax brings all of that to the picturesque West Village.  Whether you’re dining for one, meeting a group of friends, going on a relaxed date, or even holding a small meeting, Fairfax can accompany all of your social outings.
