The Most Exciting NYC Restaurants Opening Soon: Bluebird

New York has a lot up her sleeve – quietly welcoming new restaurants and eyeing cool events – and we’re sharing the city’s secrets with you. Each week, we will give you a sneak peek into New York’s future plans – the ones we’re really excited about. This week’s restaurant is especially close to our heart: D&D brings London restaurant Bluebird to the heart of Manhattan.

Owning luxury restaurants, bars and hotels in London and overseas, D&D has built an admirable reputation throughout the years – an award-winning hotel, and Michelin star restaurant Angler set the tone for their newest project at Colombus Circle. Located on the 3rd floor of Time Warner Centre, the 10,400sf restaurant will have beautiful views over Central Park.

We think that Bluebird encapsulates much of the buzz and glamour of the London restaurant scene today and will also bring to New York the quintessential style of London’s Chelsea. We hope New Yorkers like it!” – Chairman and Chief Executive Des Gunewardena.

While D&D hopes to bring a bit of London to New York, Bluebird’s new home will have a New York-based chef running the kitchen, and New York designers CetraRudder – the team behind Sushi Samba – overseeing the interior design.

The menu is yet to be announced, but expect to find fresh oysters, Yellowfin tuna tartare with citrus dressing and rice crackers, and legendary cocktails. Think Bluebird brûlée (toffee vodka, crème brulee syrup, gold Mozart chocolate liqueur and cream), and gin-based cocktails with diamond flakes and edible flowers.

We’re secretly hoping British classics like roast beef, Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings will be on the menu in New York too.

When will it open? Spring 2018.
