The Spot:

Being a non-profit enterprise, both the organization and restaurant Emma’s Torch relies on support by foundations and individual donors. Located in the former Wilma Jean space in Carroll Gardens, the restaurant features décor and furnishings donated by Rachael Ray and her team.

The Food:

Head chef Alexander Harris – who advanced his culinary career at The Pierre Hotel and Union Square Hospitality Group – helms the kitchen together with the program’s students. Focusing on seasonal American cuisine, the menu includes dishes such as grilled summer squash, pan-seared salmon alongside fingerling potatoes and grilled branzino with pepper stew. Brunch features classic breakfast fare from across the globe, from labne with za’atar to buttermilk pancakes to a rich shakshuka with poached eggs. And of course, Emma’s Torch also offers a New York staple: avocado toast.

The Drinks:

Emma’s Torch serves wine and beer.
