Emily

OPENED137 DAYS AGO

The time has finally come, the popular pizza spot Emily has opened its doors in the West Village. This is what everyone in Manhattan has secretly been waiting for.

The spot:

Chef-restaurateur duo Matt and Emily Hyland first opened Emily in Clinton Hill and Emmy Squared in Williamsburg, bringing the Detroit-style pizza to New York. A Detroit-style pizza in this city was a risky move, but definitely one worth taking. Emily quickly stole a pizza of everyone’s heart, even those dedicated to the New York style pizza. After the success of the first two locations, Manhattan can finally enjoy the beloved pizza in the West Village.
Food:

The Detroit-Style Grandma Pizza (a hybrid of the two styles) is cooked in a pan with a crunchy cheese crust, a crisp bottom and a classic red sauce. Emily’s first Manhattan restaurant also offers a small menu of pizzas inspired by the traditional New York and New Haven styles, giving the Detroit Style Grandma pies a new twist. In addition to the pizza’s, the menu includes their signature wings and the Emmy Burger on a pretzel bun. Emily pretty much nails our favorite American foods.

The Drinks:

Emily offers an extensive drink menu to pair with your pizza. The menu includes wines, beers and cocktails, as well as spirits such as whiskey, rum and vodka. There’s certainly no shortage of alcohol here!

The Damage:

The pizza’s vary between $12 to $22, depending on the style and toppings. The Emmy Burger with fries is slightly more expensive ($26), but rumor has it that it’s one of the best in New York.

In A Nutshell:

A restaurant that does both a good pizza and burger deserves all the attention. The success of the first two restaurants by the Hylands raises the bar for their first Manhattan restaurant – to say the least.
