Burger and Lobster

OPENED128 DAYS AGO

British outpost Burger and Lobster opened their second location in New York City, marking their second location in the United States as well.  Located in the Times Square and Bryant Park area, this second location was well-picked: it’s available to tourists and New Yorkers alike.  It features a menu very similar to the first Burger and Lobster location located in the Flatiron District, but has some new menu items as well.

The Spot:

Burger and Lobster is located on the second floor of One Bryant Park, conveniently living alongside the Stephen Sondheim Theater – taking a whole new approach to dinner theater!  Lobster traps lead hungry eaters to the entrance of the restaurant, where they will be welcomed into the lofty, custom-designed space.  The walls are covered in wallpaper featuring the lions from the New York Public Library, along with classic comedy/tragedy masks, marking its location.  The restaurant continues to pay homage to the theater district with large spotlights casting throughout the bar and Broadway quotes written and laced around various surfaces around the restaurant.  A huge lobster-and-burger-parts sculpture descends from the blue, 30-foot ceiling, crafted by a local artist.  Large, breathtaking windows sit in a raw cement wall overlooking the Stephen Sondheim Theater.

The Food:

The menu, created by Executive Chef Danny Lee, will look almost identical to the Flatiron location of Burger and Lobster, however it will also feature an array of dishes only available at this Times Square location.  A fourth lobster roll creation will join the three found on both menus – the Po’ Boy, with corn-crusted fried lobster clusters with a spicy remoulade.  Other new menu additions include Burger Bites, tiny Hereford beef patties with American and Cheddar cheese, and house pickles wrapped in puff pastry served with secret burger sauce, and Lobster Bites with lobster and shrimp, lemon zest, chives, puff pastry, and a side of chili sauce.  However, the ceiling spotlights shine the brightest on The Tower: any two burgers with any two lobster rolls and two whole one pound lobsters, three sauces, unlimited fries and salad, and four specialty cocktails or a bottle of Cava, all presented on a two-tiered tray.  Talk about drama!

The Damage:

The burgers range from $16 for the BBQ Pork Burger to $33 for The Frenchman: a 6oz burger with foie gras and cranberry jam.  The lobsters are $20 for The Pounder which is a whole lobster with fries and salad, and lobster rolls range from $20 to $25.

In a nutshell:

Burger and Lobster’s second location is sure to turn them into a Midtown Manhattan hit!  Their proximity to both Bryant Park and Times Square allows easy access to both permanent and visiting New Yorkers, and their menu is just as dramatic and jaw-dropped as the sights around the area.
