Boys Don’t Cry

OPENED430 DAYS AGO

Nom Wah Tu transforms into Boys Don’t Cry, now open on the Lower East Side.

Brought to you by Wilson Tang – owner of fast-casual dim sum and dumpling restaurants Nom Wah – Boys Don’t Cry is a simple, low-key bar.

The Spot:

Located within walking distance of Tang’s Nom Wah restaurants, a neon sign with “Boys Don’t Cry” welcomes you into the tiny tucked-away bar. The space is simple, fitted with a few brown booths, seats at the bar and a marble counter facing the window – the perfect spot to watch the world go by, with a drink in one hand and a dumpling in the other.

The Food:

Yes, you guessed it – Boys Don’t Cry offers a selection of light bites, including Nom Wah classics. Think dumplings (chicken, shrimp, pork or vegetable) served with homemade chili and sweet soy sauces; scallion pancakes and crispy spring rolls. If Chinese food isn’t your thing, there’s also a Brooklyn hot dog on the menu.

The Drinks:

Drinks include a variety of white wine and beers (draft and can), such as Founder’s All Day IPA and Montauk Summer Ale. The bar goes decidedly old school with its cocktails, offering options such as French 75s, Old Fashioned, Manhattans, and Mules.

The Damage:

Prices are expected to be similar to Tang’s Nom Wah operations, with dim sum costing around $6.

In a Nutshell:

Boys Don’t Cry is definitely a no-frills bar, but if you’re in the area and craving Nom Wah’s famous dim sum and classic cocktails – this is your spot.
