Boqueria
The popular Barcelona-inspired tapas bar – Boqueria – arrives in the Garment District.
Brought to you by Yann de Roquefort, Boqueria in Midtown West is now the fifth location in New York City, with executive chef Marc Vidal leading the kitchen for almost a decade.
The Spot:
Designed by Alireza Razavi of Studio Razavi Architecture, the space is both minimalistic and warm, featuring cream leather banquettes, soft lighting, and wooden furnishings throughout the dining room. The open kitchen is the main attraction, allowing you to watch tapas chefs prepare artisanal cheese boards and plates of jamón Ibérico.
The Food:
While the tapas-bar continues to focus on Spanish classics and market-driven dishes – such as paella, fire roasted eggplant and dates stuffed with almonds – the menu welcomes several new additions. Exclusive to this location, Boqueria includes a large rotisserie for spit-roasting whole meats, offering dishes such as slow roasted chicken with roasted potatoes, root vegetables and salsa verde, while chef Vidal also debuts his first breakfast menu. You can either pair your coffee with a pastry at the bar, or take your time with a Catalan country-style breakfast, involving hearty fare and more tapas.

The Drinks:
Sticking to tradition, beverage director Kieran Chavez offers Spanish wines, beers and sangrias. Highlights include “Sangría de Naranja Sanguina” with blood orange, tequila, cava, and lime cordial, and “de Peras” with white wine, vodka, pear, spiced Demerara and a cava float. But it doesn’t stop there; Boqueria also offers cocktails with Spanish liquors and a special vermouth program.

The Damage:
Tapas costs around $6-$16, paella is $48, and cheese and charcuterie platters are $19-$28. A pitcher of sangria costs $38 and cocktails are $13.

In a Nutshell:
As Boqueria has proven to be a big hit in New York’s neighborhoods, the new location is a great addition to the Midtown-area – what’s not to love about tapas and nutella-filled churros?
