Black Tap – Lower East Side

OPENED94 DAYS AGO

Fans of cult burger series Black Tap will no longer have to leave the Lower East Side to get their fix, thanks to the chain’s latest opening on Ludlow Street. Presented by Joe Isidori and Chris Barish, the award-winning burger and milkshake joint is looking to act as stiff, meat-loving competition to the likes of Butcher Bar and The Burgary.

The Spot:

Tucked away between Houston Street and Stanton Street, the 55-seat restaurant is as cool as you’d expect for the area – with unique art by the street artist Fumero depicting New York City life, and decor paying tribute to old school hip hop and classic rock.

The Food:

Black Tap prides itself on its homages to the classic American Luncheonette, with burgers celebrating all the flavours of the country; the All-American and Texan Burger are fan favourites, and the recently added Crispy Chicken Sandwich is certain to please – but the real hit of the menu is The Greg Norman, recently winning the People’s Choice award at the New York City Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash for a second time. Meat-free fans can also take part with the black bean Vegan Burger, or Falafel Burger Salad.

The Drinks:

In addition to an extensive selection of American craft beers on tap, Black Tap offers wine, soju, and a range of adventurous sake-based cocktails – including a Spicy Margarita with jalapeño infused soju, and their take on a Moscow Mule. If you’re feeling like something a little sweeter, look to their signature ‘Crazy Shakes’ – viral, over-the-top treats that are worth trying just for the Instagram likes.

The Damage:

Burgers will set you back around $14-19 each, with drinks ranging between $7-15 for shakes, $10 for cocktails, and $8 for beers.

In A Nutshell:

The perfect place to satisfy your burger-cravings – and if you like your shakes to be a little extra.
