Bistrot Leo

OPENED162 DAYS AGO

A new all-day brasserie – Bistrot Leo – opens in Soho.

Brought to you by John Mcdonald of Mercer Street Hospitality – from Lure Fishbar, El Toro Blanco and Burger & Barrel – the new brasserie takes over the former Sessanta inside SIXTY Soho Hotel.

The Spot:

Designed in true French style, Bistrot Leo is complete with wooden furnishings and floral wallpaper, while vintage French artwork and collectibles can be found throughout the space. Replacing the original bar, the main dining room is now more intimate, featuring both traditional seating and cozy corner booths. But you can stop by Bistro Leo any time of the day – starting in May, the café area will offer an all-day menu with breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch. And when warmer weather finally arrives, there will be a patio waiting for you too.

The Food:

Helmed by executive chef Brian Loiacono – who previously worked at Bar Boulud and DB Bistro Moderne – the menu boasts an updated take on French fare, such as steak tartare with bone marrow sabayon, lobster niçoise with deviled eggs, and herb crusted lamp chops with cured egg yolk. Though you will also find French classics, such as steak frites, salmon en papillote (wrapped in a packet of parchment) and côte de boeuf for two.

The Drinks:

Bistrot Leo offers a selection of French wines, cocktails and beer.

The Damage:

Starters vary between $12 and $24, salads and vegetables cost around $16, and main dishes are $23-$43 (excluding the grilled long rib for two at $68).

In a Nutshell:

With executive chef Brian Loiacono having experience at New York’s finest bistros, the bar is set high for the new all-day brasserie Bistrot Leo. While the dinner menu sounds promising, we already can’t wait to hear about the breakfast and weekend brunch coming soon.
