Bistro Pierre Lapin

OPENED1067 DAYS AGO

West Village welcomes another French restaurant – Bistro Pierre Lapin.

After making a name for himself at the city’s finest French restaurants (Daniel and Jean-Georges) and running Harold’s Meat + Three, chef Harold Moore returns to French cooking and opens Bistro Pierre Lapin, together with co-owner Julia Grossman. Located in the heart of the West Village, Bistro Pierre Lapin is an all-day French café and restaurant.

The Spot:

Transforming you to a corner bistro in Paris, Bistro Pierre Lapin is fitted with rustic wooden furnishings and plush red banquettes, while the walls are adorned with traditional French wallpaper. Many of the restaurant’s features are sourced from the city’s beloved markets, including a portrait of Monsieur Pierre Lapin himself, alongside antique candleholders and chandeliers.

The Food:

Serving bistro classics with a New York twist, chef Moore offers a menu that focuses on house made breads, cultured butter, terrines and pâtés, alongside seasonal vegetables. Highlights include toasted brioche with sautéed mushrooms; Pike Quenelles in herb champagne sauce, and “chicken for two”, served over foie gras bread stuffing and pommes purée. Julia Grossman runs the café and dessert menu at Bistro Pierre Lapin, offering everything from croissants to carrot cake madeleines and truffle sandwiches.

In a Nutshell:

Chef Moore has over 20 years of experience in French cuisine and knows a thing or two about running a restaurant in New York, so the expectations are high for Bistro Pierre Lapin. While the West Village is filled with all-day cafés and French restaurants, Bistro Pierre Lapin stands out with inventive dishes, offering more than just the usual steak tartare and steak frites.
