Beyond Sushi

OPENED595 DAYS AGO

Beyond Sushi expands downtown with a new location in Soho.

With several locations across the city – including Chelsea Market, City Acres Market and a full-service restaurant in Midtown – Beyond Sushi is one of the largest independent vegan brands in New York.

The Spot:

Brought to you by Chef Guy Vaknin and his wife Tali, Beyond Sushi takes pride in using locally sourced, seasonal produce in their plant-based dishes. Similar to most of the other locations, Beyond Sushi in Soho is a counter-service spot with a clean and bright interior, minimal seating and a casual atmosphere.

The Food:

Blending fruits and vegetables with whole grains, the menu features a wide variety of vegan dishes such as rice paper wraps, dumplings and colorful sushi rolls. Sushi standouts include the “Sunny Side”  with braised fennel and sundried tomatoes, “Spicy Mang” with mango and spicy veggies, while their “Fun-Guy” dumplings with mushrooms beg to be ordered too. If you’re looking for something a little more substantial, opt for a noodle soup – think coconut curry, butternut squash and kaffir lime chips.

The Drinks:

The menu offers homemade lemonades, such as strawberry Yuru juice, blueberry or cucumber with mint.

The Damage:

Sushi rolls cost $7.50 (containing 8 pieces); noodle soups and rice salads are around $12.

In a Nutshell:

While the menu at Beyond Sushi solely includes plant-based dishes, their food is praised by both vegan and non-vegan customers. Vegan or not, the new spot in Soho is ideal for a quick and healthy bite to eat.
