The Boro Hotel in Long Island City welcomes a new restaurant and bar – Beebe’s.

Helmed by chef Lou Tomzcak – formerly of the city’s beloved pizza hotspots Paulie Gees and Emmy Squared – and the hotel’s chef, the menu includes both pizza and New American dishes.

The Spot:

Designed by Eric Mailaender of Resistance Design, the large space is fitted with geometric wood wall panels, mid-century style furniture and floor-to-ceiling windows, attracting tons of natural light. After you’ve had a drink at the bar and taken a look at the bright red pizza oven, head outside to the private courtyard with views of the city.

The Food:

Focusing on New York’s original style pies, chef Tomczak’s pizzas feature a crispy thin crust, balancing the classic Margherita with more inventive options. Think “Jimmy Forager” with sweet fennel sausage and calabrin chili oil, “Hot Italian” with hot Italian sausage, pepperoni and hot honey, or “Campfire” with smoked mozzarella, pecorino and mushroom. Complimenting the pizzas, chef George Mandakas offers a wide range of New American dishes with Italian influences, including crispy Brussels sprouts, rigatoni with beef ragu, and wild black sea bass. Make sure to save room for dessert though – there’s Nutella bread pudding with mascarpone gelato.

The Drinks:

Bartenders Miguel Govea and Maximilian Caraballo – formerly of Apotheke NYC – are in charge of the drinks, offering seasonal cocktails, wines, as well as beer on tap from local breweries.

The Damage:

Pizza’s cost around $16, small plates and vegetables are $8-$15, while pastas and large plates are $14-$29.

In a Nutshell:

With a menu covering a wide variety of options – from pastas to pizzas to vegetables and burgers – Beebe’s satisfies any craving. But as a former Emmy-squared chef is making the pizzas, it will be hard to order anything other than that.
