Ample Hills Creamery Red Hook

OPENED22 DAYS AGO

Ample Hills Creamery launches New York’s largest ice cream factory in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

But this isn’t just an ice cream factory – Ample Hills Creamery transports you to their world of ice cream heaven with an interactive museum, complete with climb-though tunnels, oversized spoons (not meant for eating, sadly) and a flavor smell station. It’s like Disneyworld, but with the added fun of endless scoops of ice cream (500,000 gallons of ice cream each year, to be precise).

The Spot:

Behind every flavor with chunky mix-ins, Ample Hills Creamery has a story to tell. A guided walking tour teaches you how they make their much-loved ice cream, while iconic landmarks pay tribute to Ample Hills’ roots in Brooklyn. The oversized spoons serve as interactive museum guides, so you can take yourself on an adventure with interpretive panels and analog interactives, before you share your flavor ideas in the museum scrapbook. This is definitely the magic kingdom of New York City.

The Food:

Of course, the 12,000 square-foot space is outfitted with an ice cream counter. Made with the creamiest vanilla ice cream and hunks of St. Louis-style butter cake, there’s a reason why the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake is an all-time favorite – are you a really a New Yorker if you haven’t experienced the delights Ample Hills’ butter cake ice cream? But other flavors are just as fun (and American), such as The Munchies with potato chips, pretzels and mini M&Ms, or vanilla ice cream mixed with homemade peanut butter cups.

There’s also a brand new flavor; The Hook is a homage to Red Hook’s Dutch settlers, featuring burnt sugar ice cream with stroopwafels and salted fudge chunks. We’re hooked already.
