10 Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings 2017

From hot new concepts by celebrity chefs like José Andrés and April Bloomfield to brand new names making waves in the industry, 2017 is giving us a vast selection of restaurants to sink our teeth into.



We’ve been waiting on Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s long-delayed veggie-focused restaurant to grace us with its presence for a while now and finally we can say that the end of waiting is nigh! Co-created by ABC Carpet & Home CEO Paulette Cole, ABCV will open early this year with a menu from chef de cuisine Neal Harden. The 75-seat restaurant will be introducing a stellar lineup of both vegan and vegetarian dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Da Dong

Celebrity chef Dong Zhenxiang has made a name for himself with his Beijing-based concept which has been hailed as one of China’s best roast duck restaurants. He will be launching his restaurant, Da Dong right here in New York which will be his first U.S opening.

Harvey at The Williamsburg Hotel

Brooklyn’s new Williamsburg Hotel which is set to open in early 2017 is getting a restaurant, Harvey, from chef Adam Leonti (Brooklyn Bread Lab and Vetri). The menu will be largely vegetable-focused with dishes like cauliflower and potato gallete. They will also make their own breads, pastas, cakes and pastries in-house daily using the city’s largest stone mill to grind their fresh flour.

Made Nice

Daniel Humm and Will Guidara from the incredible spots, Eleven Madison Park and NoMad are opening a long-delayed, fast-casual restaurant called Made Nice. Expect to see well-executed plates of seasonal meat, fish and veggies for between $10–$15. Humm and Guidara are self-financing the project.

The Lowell Hotel is set to receive a new restaurant from the La Grenouille legend Charles Masson and chef Christian Delouvrier. The new concept is focused on French-Mediterranean cuisine with dishes like veal sweetbreads on a bed of mache with truffle. The setting comes complete with gardens and a fireplace.

Opening slated: March



Fredrik Berselius (who opened Williamsburg’s fine restaurant, Aska last year) and Noma co-founder Claus Meyer are teaming up to open a concept cafe and bakery in Greenpoint. Set inside a 23,000-square-foot design incubator,  the 140-seat spot will serve a European working lunch-style during the day and turn into a ‘purposefully sourced’ experimental concept at night.

Out East

A strong team of restaurant royalty have joined forces to bring New American fare to the East Village. Chef Tim Meyers (Charlie Bird) has teamed up with Peter Kane and Anthony Serignese (Stanton Social and Beauty & Essex) to offer a seafood-heavy menu featuring a raw bar and other larger dishes like grilled pappardelle with rabbit.

Salvation Taco/Unnamed April Bloomfield concept

Business partners and owners of coveted spots The Spotted Pig and The Breslin are set to open their first ever Brooklyn restaurant inside the new Pod Hotel in Williamsburg. The spot will be an outpost of their Salvation Taco and will feature a rooftop that will also serve food and drinks.

The Sosta

Get ready for another hot spot from Squared Hospitality’s Samantha Wasser (By CHLOE). Teaming with chef, Ali LaRaia, The Sosta will offer up fresh seasonal salads, focaccia sandwiches and housemade pastas along with Italian beer and wine.

Unnamed José Andrés concept

The James Beard award winning ‘Outstanding Chef’ José Andrés is opening a new restaurant inside the new SLS New York. Very little details right now (and no name currently) but watch this space.
