The Body Shop

OPENED1046 DAYS AGO

Secretly nestled within the East Village’s hot-rod bar Pinks, is a new and playful speakeasy, The Body Shop. The new spot, hidden at the back of Pinks’ bar takes the place of their former kitchen (which has since moved) and still retains its old servers hole which can open and close for easy access to the bar and has a reflective mirror on the outer side, offering the best form of privacy – no other customers can see in and only those inside can see out.

Accessible through swinging doors at the back, the 20-seat space features up-cycled drum sets used as tables, upholstered green and blue booths line the space, whilst pin up girls line the walls. Those lucky enough to be inside the secret spot can order their drinks via The Body Shop‘s phone placed inside the space. Cocktails like the Mezcal Mule (with mezcal, lime, ginger beer, bitters and candied ginger), a Cherry Kola (with spiced rum, cherry bitters, amaro and soda with a cherry on top) and a Motown (with bourbon, lemon, ginger, peppercorn syrup and lemon peel) are on offer, in addition to beer, wine and a list of ‘Burnouts’ that offer combinations of beer cans with various shots. Balance the drinks out with some of their street food options that have all of the Mexican classics taken care of – opt for pulled pork, chicken or beef topped nachos, a range of T-bird tacos or a hearty East Village Burrito (complete with cilantro jalapeño rice, beans, pico de gallo, pickled onion and a choice of beef, chicken or pulled pork).

Pinks also plays host to a variety of must-see events from classic comedy nights and bingo nights to a special tattooing party where they will enlist the services of a serious tattoo artist to offer up discounted or free body art for those looking to get inked.
