Meyers Bageri

OPENED971 DAYS AGO

Meyers Bageri is the best new bakery in Williamsburg, serving Danish pastries other homemade treats.

The Danish culinary superstar, Claus Meyer, just opened a permanent location of his bakery, Meyers Bageri, in Williamsburg. For those that can’t quite afford the trip to Copenhagen to Meyer’s famous fine dining destination, Noma, you can rest assured that a new, slightly more affordable, alternative is on offer.

The idea was debuted as a pop-up at Margot Patisserie earlier this year and now, the fully fledged bakery, lead by head baker Jacques Johnson (an alum of Dominique Ansel Bakery), will be serving up Danish pastries, homemade breads, parfaits and sandwiches from its location on Driggs Avenue, permanently.

Johnson mills everything in house — using only local grains — and bakes the deliciously fresh breads and pastries throughout the day. Menu items include Morning Buns (sourdough buns filled with seasonal jam, sunflower butter or Havarti cheese), Tebirkes (poppyseed Danishes) and Kanelsnurre (Meyer’s famed cinnamon swirl). There is also a rotating menu of savory items and include a Pork Loin Sandwich (with pickled red cabbage, gherkins and apples).

While there may be no immediate plans for a Noma outpost to launch in Brooklyn, a celebrated influx of new Nordic spots have left the area a bit spoilt for choice with openings like Daniel Burns’ Luksus, and Frederik Berzelius’ Aska. But it seems Meyer is intent on starting his own Nordic epidemic in New York after the launch of his Scandinavian food hall for Grand Central, along with the opening of his full-scale eatery, Agern, which we count among our top 14 places to eat in NYC for Thanksgiving. It would seem that Meyers is on a bit of a roll (no pun intended).

Meyers Bageri is open Monday through Friday 8am to 7pm and 9am-7pm on the weekends.
