Honeybrains

OPENED264 DAYS AGO

With all the buzz about superfoods, Honeybrains is another spot in Manhattan’s NoHo for healthy quick service. But it’s not just a place with breakfast, salads, sandwiches, juices, bowls, and plates for the yoga set. The team includes a neurologist, a nutritionist, and a chef who considers ingredients, health, and flavor for the menu.

It’s the first restaurant to specialize in “brain foods,” or foods that stimulate brain wellness. The team used neuroscience, lifestyle technologies, and natural foods to create a mindful experience in this bustling, upscale neighborhood.

The space at Honeybrains is intended to stimulate the mind too. VAMOS Architects designed an acoustical ceiling installation and a circadian lighting system. The honeycomb patterns and clean, open design are a calming and welcome addition in a city where space is a premium. Customers can sit at the counter or take food to go – all at reasonable prices.

Try the “Power Oatmeal” with oatmeal, quinoa, spiced coconut milk, and manuka honey – said to have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and cancer-fighting properties. The “Wake and Steak Plate” features free-range skirt steak with a coffee and herb crust, almond buttered potatoes, and baby greens. Sandwiches include the ubiquitous smashed avocado and some newcomers, like a honey roasted chicken club with root vegetables.

The juices at Honeybrains help to stimulate memory, focus, mood, cholesterol balance, and circulation; boost metabolism; or aid in athletic endurance and recovery. Opt for the “Sage Thinking” with pineapple, gala apple, pear, kale, lemon, walnuts, white miso (a probiotic), fibergum, and sage. Or sip the “Supergrain Balance” with green apple, cucumber, raw honey, watercress, lemon, oats, barley, fibergum, ginger, spirulina, and green tea. Coffee and tea are also available.

Instead of refined sugar, there’s the namesake honey bar featuring 100% raw varieties from local and international beekeepers. Whatever you try at Honeybrains, your brain– and body– will thank you.
