Casa Neta

OPENED478 DAYS AGO

Casa Neta is a new Mexican restaurant in Manhattan’s East Side, serving small plates and a whopping 120 kinds of agave-based spirits.

Even though the restaurant is just steps away from Fifth Avenue stores such as Kate Spade, Intermix and Club Monaco, the boîte’s cavernous interior manages to transport diners to a sexy destination far away from all things retail. The space features multiple custom art pieces such as an upstairs mural by Tracy Ahumada and downstairs wall painted by Whisbe.

Start things light with their watermelon and jicama salad which features a variety of textures and tastes, from sweet to crunchy to chewy with pieces of queso fresco mixed into this summery dish.

You should pair your food with a cocktail from their creative list of concoctions. Keep things classic with their Margarita, which can be ordered with tequila featuring Cimarron Blanco Tequila, lime and agave. Or you can shake things up by going for the mezcal version featuring Del Amigo Espadin mezcal, Lime, agave and orange bitters. Another cocktail standout is their Frida’s Lover which is made with Cimarron Reposado Tequila, Dolin Blanc, strawberry, lemon, habanero shrub and cava.

Of course the tacos are a must-try on the menu, and it’s too hard to pick between their four options so you should probably just pick all of them. The chicken tinga is made with an avocado-tomatillo crema and corn which makes for rich yet refreshing bite. Their al pastor with pineapple and chile de arbol salsa has a nice mixture of sweetness and spice to it.

To cap off your dinner do not miss the Casa Neta Churros, a delectable mix of hot baked cinnamon sugar pastry and ice cream with a dollop of nutella for good measure. It’s the perfect sweet and crunchy treat to end your dinner at new Mexican spot.
