Black Tap Down

OPENED884 DAYS AGO

Black Tap Down is Lower Manhattan’s newest restaurant opening, upping the burger and shake game in Soho once more.

Let’s face it – when you have a line that stretches around the block daily at your original establishment, then the kindest thing to do is to make more of the good stuff available to locals and tourists alike.

And Black Tap Down has done just that. The venue is an extension into the basement of the original Black Tap location. Now, you can enjoy more seats and more shakes whilst being surrounded by the same striped down décor.

If you haven’t seen these shakes already, then you must have been buried under a rock, because they are the stuff that viral internet dreams are made of. We’re talking ‘drinks’ laden with lollipops, cookies and brownies. You’ll find it difficult to resist the $15 treats once you see them with your own eyes. If you’re taking a friend along, then maybe consider the idea of sharing one between two – don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Chef Joe Isidori’s Michelin star heritage bolsters the reputation of the burger menu, too. They’re not just a bit-part in the venture, with him overtly banishing the nonsense of brioche bun culture and focusing instead on what he calls the go-to classic flavorful American burger. Options include beef, turkey, lamb, falafel and more.

The opening of this new location signals an intent, not of over-expanding too quickly, but rather providing a home for customers that have happily waited in lines of over 3 hours in the past. The hype that surrounds the Black Tap venues should be obvious from this fact alone, so do the right thing and visit before the line grows longer once again.

Burgers & shakes are a winning combination, so Black Tap Down has some competition in the form of the Burgary and Salvation Burger.
